Othman has deep roots in community service across Dearborn. He has volunteered on local campaigns – from helping a Dearborn Public Schools Board candidate to assisting a City Council run – providing hands-on support with social media and grassroots outreach. His commitment to the community extends to working closely with local Islamic institutions: Othman is actively involved with organizations such as the Islamic Center of Detroit, Masjid Al-Huda, and the American Moslem Society, where he's mentored youth, helped organize events, and supported fundraising drives.
As a student leader at both the University of Michigan–Dearborn and Henry Ford College, Othman was an engaged member of the Muslim Student Association and the Yemeni Student Association. Through these student organizations, he worked to foster inclusion and leadership among young people.
He continues to serve those in need by regularly volunteering at local food drives and community programs with organizations like ACCESS, helping ensure families receive essential resources. You'll also find Othman at neighborhood clean-ups, charity events, homecoming parades, and cultural festivals – always ready to celebrate Dearborn's diversity and lend a helping hand. A Vision for Dearborn's Future
Othman's campaign is centered on a clear, forward-thinking vision for Dearborn's future. He believes in tackling the issues that matter most to residents in every part of our city, East and West, through a focus on four key priorities:
💰 Fiscal Efficiency
Manage the city's finances as carefully as a family budget, eliminating waste and leveraging state, federal, and private grants to improve services without raising taxes. By embracing smart budgeting and technology to streamline operations, Othman will ensure taxpayers get the best value for every dollar spent.
🚔 Public Safety
Invest in our police, firefighters, and first responders so they have the latest training, tools, and technology to protect our community. Othman will also promote collaboration between law enforcement and residents – from neighborhood watch programs to transparent communication – making sure every family feels safe.
🧹 Clean Neighborhoods
Keep Dearborn's neighborhoods clean, healthy, and livable by enforcing city ordinances against blight and pollution. Othman will partner with local groups for community beautification projects and organize initiatives like citywide clean-up days, tree plantings, and recycling drives.
🎓 Youth Engagement
Empower Dearborn's next generation through education and opportunity. Othman will work with our schools to instill civic pride and responsibility in students. He advocates for after-school coding clubs, trade skill workshops, mentorship programs, and other modern career-path initiatives.
Through this platform, Othman Alaansi aims to deliver a modern, safe, and thriving Dearborn for all residents. His vision is inclusive and city-wide – he isn't running to represent only one neighborhood or one group, but to serve the entire community. Whether you live in the Southend, East Dearborn or West Dearborn, Othman wants you to feel heard, respected, and valued in City Hall's decisions.
Above all, Othman's deep passion for public service drives him to foster unity, inclusivity, and progress across all of Dearborn's diverse communities.
